Kampong Thom Postpones Water Festival Due to the High Water Level of Steung Saen River

KAMPONG THOM: The Kampong Thom Provincial Administration has officially postponed the celebration of the Water Festival, previously scheduled for 9-10 October 2022, due to the rising water level of Steung Saen River, which has flooded some roads in Steung Saen City, Kampong Thom Province, making it impossible for boats to cross the bridge.

According to an announcement from the Kampong Thom Provincial Administration, the Water Festival will be held again when the weather is favorable.

The water level of Steung Saen river on Monday, 3 October, rose to 13.95 meters, exceeding the alert level by 0.45 meters.

On Sunday, 2 October, Kampong Thom provincial governor, Nguon Rattanak, distributed donations to 360 poor families in the Stong district who were affected by the floods. The provincial governor instructed local authorities to monitor the water situation regularly and take measures to evacuate people affected by the floods on time.

It should be noted that Oddar Meanchey province holds its Water Festival celebrations in early October.
